Development of a Potential Surface for Simulation of Proton and Hydride Transfer Reactions in Solution: Application to NADH Hydride Transfer
This paper presents a new augmented molecular mechanical potential that incorporates significant quantum mechanical effects for proton and hydride transfer reactions in solution and in enzymes. The solvent is treated explicitly, specified covalent bonds in the solute are allowed to break and form, and the charge distribution of the solute is allowed to vary smoothly from that of the reactant to...
متن کاملMechanistic insights into iron catalyzed dehydrogenation of formic acid: β-hydride elimination vs. direct hydride transfer.
Density functional theory calculations reveal a complete reaction mechanism with detailed energy profiles and transition state structures for the dehydrogenation of formic acid catalyzed by an iron complex, [P(CH2CH2PPh2)3FeH](+). In the cationic reaction pathway, a β-hydride elimination process is confirmed to be the rate-determining step in this catalytic reaction. A potential reaction pathwa...
متن کاملCyclopentadiene-mediated hydride transfer from rhodium complexes.
Attempts to generate a proposed rhodium hydride catalytic intermediate instead resulted in isolation of (Cp*H)Rh(bpy)Cl (1), a pentamethylcyclopentadiene complex, formed by C-H bond-forming reductive elimination from the fleeting rhodium hydride. The hydride transfer ability of diene 1 was explored through thermochemistry and hydride transfer reactions, including the reduction of NAD(+).
متن کاملHydride Reduction by a Sodium Hydride–Iodide Composite
Sodium hydride (NaH) is widely used as a Brønsted base in chemical synthesis and reacts with various Brønsted acids, whereas it rarely behaves as a reducing reagent through delivery of the hydride to polar π electrophiles. This study presents a series of reduction reactions of nitriles, amides, and imines as enabled by NaH in the presence of LiI or NaI. This remarkably simple protocol endows Na...
متن کاملHydride transfer versus hydrogen radical transfer in thymidylate synthase.
The nature of a H-transfer in the thymidylate synthase catalyzed reaction was investigated by comparison of the wild-type enzyme with the W80M mutant. The nature of the H-transfer was not affected, as indicated by intrinsic isotope effects and their temperature dependence. These findings support a single-step hydride transfer instead of a two-step radical transfer.
